FAQ

Q: Who is eligible to receive assistance?

A: The following groups are eligible for assistance for BOTH the loan and grant programs:

  • Currently serving members of the National Guard
  • Retired members of the National Guard, including grey area retirees
  • Prior members of the National Guard who received an honorable discharge
  • Surviving spouses (who have not remarried) of Soldiers who died while serving in the National Guard or after reaching retirement eligibility

Q: Are there additional requirements for eligibility for the interest-free loan?

A: Yes, applicants must:

  • Be employed
  • Have completed our "Guide Your Finances" course within the past 30 days

Q: Is the verification form required for both the S.A.R.G.E Grant and the Interest-Free Loan?

A: Yes, all applicants MUST attach a SIGNED verification form to any application they fill out.


Q: Who can sign a verification form?

A:  Verification must be completed by a Unit CC, Bn CSM, CCM, First Sergeant, or Family Programs Personnel


Q: Is the "Guard Your Finances Course required for both the S.A.R.G.E Grant and the Interest-Free Loan?

A: No, this is only required for the Interest-Free Loan application.


Q: How long does it take to receive funds?

A: We strive to have all applications processed within 7-10 business days and funds disbursed 3-5 business days after an approval letter has been sent. If we are currently experiencing multiple natural disasters this process could take a bit longer.


Q: How do I pay my loan back?

A: Refer to the instructions sent to you via email in your approval letter. If you are struggling logging into your account, send a request to director@eangus-wcfa.org.


Q: What is the maximum amount I can receive from the S.A.R.G.E Grant and the Interest-Free Loan?

A: The S.A.R.G.E. grant =$500

A: The Interest Free Loan =$2000


Q: Can I receive funds from the S.A.R.G.E Grant and the Interest-Free Loan multiple times?

A: The S.A.R.G.E. grant - you may only apply for a grant once per calendar year. There must be 12 months between requests.

A: The Interest Free Loan - you may only have one loan at a time- refinancing is available upon request and is decided on a case-by-case basis.


Timeline of an application

Here is what you can expect after completing your online application.

Day 1

Application Submitted

Once we receive your application it takes 7-10 business days to process. In this time, you may receive a call or email from our staff asking for further documents or clarifications. Tip: Ensure you upload all required documents to cut down on processing time

Day 7-10

Application Decision

You will receive an approval or denial email from our staff. If denied, you will be given the reason(s) and extended an invitation to apply again once you meet the criteria.

Day 7-10

Application Approval

After you receive your approval, you will be emailed with further guidance. Each step is specified for you, so please avoid skipping any steps and take the time to read your instructions thoroughly to keep the process moving smoothly.

Day 10-15

Application Funded

After you have completed all the required steps, your loan or grant will be set for funding. You can anticipate receiving your funds within 3-5 business days once you accept your approval and follow the account setup guidelines. Be sure to follow these instructions carefully to ensure timely access to your funds.
